Windows 8 Upgrade Facts

Hi folks,
Here are my installation Experiences for Windows 8 Upgrade.

1. Run Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant.

2. Check for Compatibility Issues.

3. If your existing PC configuration supports proceed to next step.

4. Make payment via Credit Card or PayPal Account.

5. Now You get a PRODUCT KEY.

6. Setup may ask you whether you want to download a 32/64 bit version.

Here is the tricky part.

If you are running a 32 bit windows, Setup automatically downloads 32 bit windows 8.

If you are running a 64 bit windows, Setup automatically downloads 64 bit windows 8.

But if you want to download 64 bit windows from 32 bit machine, do the following.

a) Install Windows 8 64bit Release Preview Version and then download windows 8 from the following link. Keep the Product Code Handy.

b) After downloading of around 2.7GB ISO file, setup asks whether you want to install or save media. Proceed as you wish.

c) Burn the ISO file on to a DVD. It creates a bootable disk so that next if you want to format your system , you can install windows 8 with just 1 DVD. No need to install OLD WINDOWS VERSION AND THEN INSTALL THIS WINDOWS 8.

1. Whether same license key ( Product Key ) works for both 32 bit and 64 bit windows 8.

Ans. Read 6th Step.

3. Can I install a fresh ( Clean Install ) Copy of windows with this Upgrade Disk.
Ans. Yes. Create a bootable media and install.
